The DJI Matrice 4E is a compact enterprise mapping and survey aircraft in the Matrice 4 Series, built around a triple-camera imaging system and integrated RTK positioning for precise photogrammetry workflows. It pairs a 4/3-inch wide-angle sensor with medium tele and telephoto cameras, a built-in laser rangefinder and omnidirectional sensing in a lightweight folding airframe. GoUAV supplies, configures and supports the Matrice 4E for survey, construction and inspection teams across South Africa.
Triple-camera mapping payload
A 20 MP 4/3-inch wide camera plus 48 MP medium tele and 48 MP telephoto sensors support detailed survey capture, with wide-camera JPEG and DNG (RAW) output.
RTK precision positioning
Integrated RTK delivers RTK Fix accuracy of 1 cm + 1 ppm horizontal and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertical, supporting GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS.
Long endurance airframe
Up to 49 minutes of flight time with standard propellers, measured flying at approximately 9 m/s without payloads in a windless environment until the battery reached 0%, for reference only.
Triple-camera imaging for survey detail
The Matrice 4E carries three complementary cameras. The wide camera uses a 4/3-inch CMOS sensor with 20 MP effective resolution, a 24 mm equivalent lens at FOV 84 degrees and an aperture of f/2.8 to f/11. The medium tele camera uses a 1/1.3-inch CMOS sensor with 48 MP effective resolution, 70 mm equivalent lens and FOV 35 degrees, while the telephoto camera uses a 1/1.5-inch CMOS sensor with 48 MP effective resolution, 168 mm equivalent lens and FOV 15 degrees.
Maximum photo sizes reach 5280 x 3956 on the wide camera, 8064 x 6048 on the medium tele and 8192 x 6144 on the telephoto. The wide camera captures JPEG and DNG (RAW); the medium tele and telephoto capture JPEG.

RTK positioning and GNSS accuracy
Integrated RTK supports precise georeferencing with RTK Fix accuracy of 1 cm + 1 ppm horizontal and 1.5 cm + 1 ppm vertical. The aircraft supports GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS, with GLONASS available only when the RTK module is enabled.
Hovering accuracy is quoted at +/-0.1 m with the Vision System, +/-0.5 m with GNSS and +/-0.1 m with RTK, giving survey teams consistent positioning across varied capture environments.

Integrated laser rangefinder
The Matrice 4 Series laser module provides a measurement range of 1800 m at 1 Hz against a 20% reflectivity target, with an oblique incidence range (1:5) of 600 m at 1 Hz and a 1 m blind zone.
Rangefinding accuracy over 1 to 3 m shows a system error below 0.3 m and random error below 0.1 m at 1 sigma, with other distances at +/- (0.2 + 0.0015D). Performance may degrade in rain or fog.

Omnidirectional sensing and protection
The aircraft combines an omnidirectional binocular vision system with a 3D infrared sensor at the bottom of the airframe. The forward binocular system has a measurement range of 0.4 to 22.5 m, with a wider measurement range of 0.4 to 200 m and obstacle avoidance at speeds up to 21 m/s.
The forward FOV covers 90 degrees horizontal and 135 degrees vertical, supporting safer operation around structures and in complex environments.

Endurance and flight performance
Maximum flight time reaches 49 minutes with standard propellers and 46 minutes with low-noise propellers, measured flying at approximately 9 m/s without payloads in a windless environment until the battery reached 0%, for reference only. Maximum hover time is 42 minutes with standard propellers and 39 minutes with low-noise propellers in a no-wind environment.
Maximum flight distance is 35 km with standard propellers and 32 km with low-noise propellers in no wind, measured at approximately 14 m/s without payloads. Maximum horizontal speed is 21 m/s at sea level with no wind, and maximum wind speed resistance during takeoff and landing is 12 m/s.

Stabilised gimbal and zoom
The 3-axis gimbal (tilt, roll, pan) provides a controllable rotation range of tilt -90 to 35 degrees, with a maximum control speed of 100 deg/s on tilt and angular vibration of +/-0.007 degrees. Pan is not controllable.
The telephoto camera supports 16x digital zoom and up to 112x hybrid zoom for distant detail capture during inspection and survey tasks.

Compatibility and FAQ
Is the Matrice 4E a thermal aircraft?
No. The Matrice 4E is the mapping and photogrammetry variant of the Matrice 4 Series. It uses the triple-camera visual payload described above. Thermal imaging specifications belong to a different variant and are not part of the 4E.
What accessory ports are available?
The aircraft has one E-Port for official accessories and third-party PSDK devices (hot-swapping is not supported) and one E-Port Lite for USB connection to DJI tuning software and some third-party PSDK devices.
How accurate is the RTK positioning?
With an RTK Fix, horizontal accuracy is 1 cm + 1 ppm and vertical accuracy is 1.5 cm + 1 ppm. The aircraft supports GPS, Galileo, BeiDou and GLONASS, with GLONASS available only when the RTK module is enabled.
What flight endurance can I expect?
DJI quotes up to 49 minutes maximum flight time with standard propellers, measured flying at approximately 9 m/s without payloads in a windless environment until the battery reached 0%, for reference only. Real-world endurance varies with payload, wind, temperature and flight profile.
