DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise and DJI Mavic 3M Drone Series - Latest Releases

DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise

DJI Mavic 3M

The DJI Mavic Pro to Mavic 3 Timeline

The latest DJI Mavic series of drones, The DJI Mavic 3, originates from a long lineage of DJI drones dating back to 2016 when DJI launched the first DJI Mavic Pro model. The first Mavic Pro model, designed to be compact and portable, featured foldable legs and propellers compared with previous rigid frame DJI Phantom series drones. The first DJI Mavic Pro featured a 12MP camera capable of shooting 4K video and boasted a flight time of 27 minutes.

In 2017 DJI then launched the upgraded Mavic Pro Platinum Edition featuring a longer battery life and improved noise reduction due to new propellors and electronic speed controllers.

2018 saw the release of three new Mavic models, the Mavic 2 Pro, Mavic 2 Zoom and Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual. The Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom models featured the first obstacle avoidance sensors comprising of 10 in total. The Mavic 2 Pro was the first in the series to feature a Hasselblad camera and timelapse feature.

DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Drone Launched – Now Discontinued

The DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise drone (M2E) was launched during October 2018. This DJI Enterprise commercial drone incorporated features of the Mavic 2 line of consumer drones. The Mavic 2 Enterprise was significant in that it was the first Mavic drone to be designed for professional use such as first responder and industrial inspection applications. 3 Modular accessories were introduced for the M2E by way of a speaker, spotlight, and beacon for improved night-time visibility to other aircraft and operators.

The Mavic 2 Enterprise drone (M2E), was soon followed by the release of the Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual drone which featured the introduction of the first ever thermal camera from FLIR Systems, incorporated into the Mavic family of drones.

DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced Drone (M2EA) Launched – Now Discontinued

April 2021 ushered in the release of the renowned and popular DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced Drone (M2EA). The M2EA featured an improved thermal camera, a 48MP ½” CMOS camera sensor and support for a RTK (real-time kinematic) module that could be fitted to the top of the drone when required. The M2EA was a true game changer in the field of compact commercial drones for security, public safety, industrial inspections, and surveying applications.

The discontinuation of the Mavic 2 Enterprise Advanced drone (DJI M2EA) was announced during August 2022 and the industry eagerly awaited the launch of the successor, the DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise Thermal drone (M3T).

DJI Mavic 3 Series Introduced

The DJI Mavic 3 was the first in this new series of Mavic 3 drones and was launched in November 2021. The Mavic 3 featured a significantly improved optical camera with the introduction of a 4/3” CMOS sensor Hasselblad wide dynamic range camera with 12.8 stops of dynamic range. The Hasselblad L2D-20c camera provided a 5.1k video shooting capacity. Transmission capability was significantly improved on the Mavic 2 series with an upgraded transmission range capability of 12km. Battery life was also improved and provided for an increased flight-time to 41 minutes. The Mavic 3 can be controlled over 4G networks using the additional 4G USB accessory.

DJI Launches Mavic 3 Enterprise Edition Drones – M3E and M3T

Late September 2022 saw the introduction of two new DJI Mavic Enterprise drone models, the Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T. The Mavic 3E and Mavic 3T Enterprise models feature an improved mechanical shutter optical camera and a thermal camera respectively. These models have the capability to add the DJI RTK or speaker module.

DJI Launches Mavic 3M Drone - DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral Discontinued

During August 2022 DJI announced the discontinuation of the Phantom 4 Multispectral drone. This popular agriculture drone featuring a multispectral camera and RTK was the predecessor to the latest DJI Mavic 3M multispectral RTK drone which now features a 5MP multispectral camera system.

With everything you’d expect from the Mavic family; reliable flight times, a solid battery life, and powerful modules all packed into a compact, sleek design with foldable arms for easy deployment, the M2EA has also received some serious enhancements that take the entire series to the next level. This includes huge upgrades to the thermal and visual cameras alongside the addition of an RTK module that enables vastly superior real-time positioning precision.

DJI Mavic 3T Enterprise Thermal Drone

Effective aerial surveying needs to see the invisible. That's why the DJI Mavic 3 Multispectral drone has two forms of sight. It combines an RGB camera with a multispectral camera to scan and analyze crop growth with total clarity. Agricultural production management requires precision and data, and Mavic 3M delivers both.

The Mavic 3M is a compact drone with five cameras; a 4/3 CMOS 20MP RGB camera and four 5MP multispectral cameras (green, red, red edge, and near-infrared). With its 0.7s mechanical shutter speed and 43-minute flight time, you can confidently complete a 200-hectare mapping mission in a single flight.

The Mavic 3M has a built-in Sunlight Sensor that takes irradiance readings for post-processing calibration. By adjusting sunlight levels, you'll get more accurate NDVI results and better data, regardless of the weather or season. With the RTK module, you'll capture centimeter-level data whenever conducting an aerial survey, crop growth routine check, or natural resource survey.

Remove the guesswork from day-to-day operations and have access to data across the electromagnetic spectrum for smarter workflows that lower costs, use resources more efficiently, and ultimately maximize yields.
